Field Officers

Field Officers

MATES Field Officers are the face of MATES on site, working directly with workers, employers, and unions to build stronger, more connected workplaces where help is easy to ask for and easy to find.

They deliver our core training programs (like General Awareness Talks and Connector Training), support sites through critical incidents, and stay actively involved with workers throughout the life of a project.

Field Officers aren’t just trainers, they are relationship builders. Their job is to:

  • Engage workers and supervisors on site in open, practical conversations about mental health and suicide prevention
  • Deliver onsite training that helps teams recognise the signs that someone might be struggling and know how to connect them to help
  • Support MATES volunteers (Connectors and ASIST workers) to stay active and confident in their roles
  • Follow up with workers who need help, linking them with our Case Managers or external support services
  • Promote site-wide participation in initiatives like Fly the Flag Week and MATES Big Lap
  • Support a culture of help offering, not just help seeking

Every day, Field Officers walk alongside the workforce helping to ensure support is available.
