Fiona Shand (B Sci [Psych] Hons, M Clin Psych, PhD)

Fiona Shand is Professor and program lead for health services and population approaches to suicide prevention at the Black Dog Institute, University of New South Wales, and a clinical psychologist. Fiona leads a team of researchers whose work spans large-scale community suicide prevention, health services and clinical research, and the social determinants of suicide. Her experience includes leading the LifeSpan suicide prevention implementation trial in New South Wales. LifeSpan is a multi-strategy, locally implemented suicide prevention framework. Her contribution to the sector includes her roles as a director of Suicide Prevention Australia and Mates in Construction NSW, and working group member for the development of Australia’s national suicide prevention strategy
