Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is proud to partner with MATES in Construction.

As the regulator of the Queensland construction industry, the QBCC supports this growing community by providing information, advice and regulation to ensure the maintenance of proper building standards and provide remedies for defective building work. In addition to the more operational aspects of our role, we actively support activities that improve workplace health and safety, both from a physical and a mental health perspective.

Challenges over recent years, including the COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain shortages, have had a major impact on the building and construction industry and this has resulted in heightened pressure and stress for those engaged in the sector, and their families.

While there has been progress in understanding and support for individuals who may be going through tough times, there is still a way to go in addressing the issue of workplace mental health and suicide prevention.

The QBCC fully supports the ethos of MATES in Construction that we are stronger together. We are honoured to partner with MATES in Construction in ensuring their invaluable help and support services are available around the clock to those in need.
