Martin Medal Nominations

The MATES in Construction Martin Medal is an annual award given to individuals, often young trades people, apprentices, or union delegates, who have demonstrated extraordinary efforts in supporting the mental health of their workmates and their local construction community.

  • Purpose: It recognises individuals who go above and beyond to break the stigma around mental health, look out for their peers, and embody the "mate helping mate" ethos on-site.
  • Naming: The medal is named in honour of Ron Martin (a founding researcher and contributor to the MATES program), acknowledging those who champion the world-renowned MATES community development model.
  • How It's Awarded: Recipients are typically nominated by their peers, unions, or employers and awarded at the MATES in Construction Charity Lunch (07 August 2026)
