SA Celebrating Our Industry Partners: A Night of Connection and Gratitude

The construction industry is built on teamwork and at MATES in Construction SA, we know that same spirit of connection extends beyond worksites and offices.

Our annual Partner Appreciation Event, proudly hosted by Brickworks, was a chance to come together and thank the organisations, leaders, and individuals who help us build safer, stronger, and more connected workplaces across South Australia.

A Shared Commitment to Our Industry and Its People

We were honoured to welcome Jon Whelan, Chief Executive of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport for South Australia, as our guest speaker.

Jon shared heartfelt reflections on why the construction industry holds such personal significance for him and emphasised the importance of supporting the people who make it all possible — the workers on site.

His genuine advocacy and ongoing support for MATES in Construction SA reinforced just how vital our shared mission is: protecting the mental health and wellbeing of those who build South Australia.

Highlighting the Impact of MATES Training

During the evening, MATES SA CEO Karyn Dale spoke about the life-changing impact of MATES training and programs being delivered across the state.

From on-site conversations to Connector, ASIST, and Respond training, Karyn highlighted how MATES empowers workers to look out for one another, helping to create a culture where it’s okay to ask for help and where no one faces tough times alone.

These programs are being delivered in Adelaide and regional South Australia, supporting both construction sites and office environments with practical mental health awareness and suicide prevention skills.

Thank You to Our Major Partners and Supporters

Our partners play a vital role in helping us deliver this message across South Australia, ensuring that every worker knows mental health support is available and that it’s okay to talk about mental health.

Their commitment enables MATES in Construction SA to continue delivering mental health support, raising awareness, and saving lives across South Australia’s construction industry.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our major funding partners and supporters:

BIRST, Adelaide PHN, Wellbeing SA (Preventive Health), SafeWork SA, Department for Infrastructure and Transport, Hallett Group, BILD Group, SADB, Adelaide Fire Doors, Prime Traffic Solutions, Outside Ideas, Built, Urbans, PEER, Emmett, PBS, CITC, Sarah, Hansen Yuncken, Bardavcol, Hindmarsh, and Built Environs.

A special thank you to Brickworks for hosting the event and creating such a welcoming space for connection and collaboration.
